Welcome to SoCal Merit Badges!

This site was last updated on Tuesday, August 31, 2010

Some 35+ years ago, as I sat at my Eagle Board of Review, one of the Scouters on the Board challenged me. He explained that as an Eagle Scout it was now my responsibility to spend my adult life repaying all the adults who gave so much of their time to me as a Cub, Webelos and Boy Scout... by giving back to Scouting. Throughout Southern California there exists an outstanding offering of opportunities to work on, and earn, merit badges. The biggest problem is finding those opportunities. On this website are upcoming merit badges classes that I have located in the Southern Calif. area. Please be sure to read the "fine print" below!

In addition, I offer FREE special merit badge opportunities for Scouts to earn some of the less common merit badges (Weather, Farm Mechanics, Surveying, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Animal Science, and more!!). If you would like to be on my email list to receive notice of these opportunities... drop me a note. Your email address will always be kept private.

Tell them you saw it at SoCalMeritBadges.Com!!!

If you offer a merit badge class, or clinic, and you don't see it listed here... let me know!

Need help with semaphore for your Signaling Merit Badge? Check out this cool site for practice reading flags. Many thanks to Riverside Troop 90 for making this available!

The Fine Print:

  1. The dates are accurate to the best of my knowledge, but can change at any time.
  2. Not all classes offered are listed for each location. If I don't feel they do an adequite job of teaching the merit badge, I'm not going to list the class.
  3. Obviously, some classes are better than others... when in doubt ask me
  4. If you click on a link and don’t see the class listed yet, keep checking back… sometimes little birdies tell me about upcoming classes before they’re announced.
  5. Please have the Scout make the initial contact with the organization sponsoring the merit badge.
  6. Please coach your Scout... when he leaves a message make sure he speaks slowly and clearly... and make sure he leaves his phone number!!!
  7. Please be sure your Scout has the merit badge book, has read it, and is totally prepared!
  8. If you know of any other opportunities, please let me know!

UNLESS TOLD OTHERWISE, SCOUTS ARE TO ALWAYS BE IN FULL UNIFORM!!!

Be Prepared!
